DIY polymer clay pendant

Each year, on 1st of March, Romanians have a tradition - they offer to each other little "martisoare" which are little decorative objects that symbolize the beginning of the spring. They resemble brooches and they absolutely necessary have to have a white and red ribbon with tassels attached. After you receive your "martisoare" you wait until you see the first bloomed tree and you tie it up to a branch of the tree. Quite a lovely tradition. This year, hoping to save a little money I made my own, from polymer clay which I gave a golden patina. I'd say they turned out great! They were appreciated little gifts. You can use this method to make much more professionally looking jewelry of all sorts:

This is just a little thing made for fun, but if you wanna go pro with polymer clay, I recommend you invest a bit and get yourself a real tutorial here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/101144233/polymer-clay-pdf-tutorial-oriental. Check out the pretty polymer clay canes too while you are there: http://www.etsy.com/shop/sigalsart

There are things one should never do...

Dear Olive Paste, you're sitting for days now in the fridge and I never pick you up. You may have wondered why, what is it with this attitude, when we were so close when I brought you home.

You have been dishonest with me. You know how much I like green olives and you wrote that in big letters to seduce me. But nowhere did you say you flirted with sweet paprika (not so sweet if you ask me).

Why would you do that, you know I would have loved you just the way you were... Ok, ok, so you wrote it somewhere in tiny letters, I am not saying it's all your fault, but I didn't read the fine print because I trusted you. Now I don't want to be rude, but it doesn't fit you AT ALL. I don't know what to say, you've dissapointed me.

True, the first thing I liked about you was your friendly little jar and that I'll keep. But I expected more from you. Now what am I going to do with you? You know as well as I do that NO ONE will touch you considering, you know, your... thing. And I wouldn't have brought this up if you wouldn't stare at me each and every single time that I opened the fridge. I am sorry. I can't. Not like this.

Global... freezing?

Scared by the global warming warnings, I never thought I will ever have another winter like in my childhood... big mountings of snow, sleighs, snow mans... but here it is, and not only in Romania, but all over Europe.

Photo from inside my yard towards the street:

My house - love the snowflakes, like in a fairy tale!

This street looks pretty frightening, isn't it?

Although I have to shovel the snow every day, I must admit, winter is a magical season.

Map O’ Love – A Map Memory Journal

Last week I was so lucky to be featured on a beautiful site, www.howdoesshe.com
Shelley, one of the founders of the site had a lovely idea to surprise her hubby on Valentines Day with a romantic project - she made a beautiful college using maps and marking with hearts and sweet notes, the places where they had beautiful memories. What a cute idea!

Shelley chose one of my leather journals from my shop MedievalJourney on Etsy to create her project. She took such beautiful pictures of it, much better than my own! Here it is:

It was a huge publicity for me, I haven't been able to keep up with the sales! But this journal can still be purchased in my shop, I have re-stocked it now. Please check out www.howdoesshe.com site to get other nice ideas - the three lady owners of the site obviously have good taste :))))

New things in my garden

Winter is finally here... we've been spared enough! So new birds are coming to eat the slices of bread that we leave outside for them. Mr tit here, is a regular:

but we rarely have robins visiting us:

As I was slowly moving with my camera to make a picture of it without scaring it off, boom! A large aspen tree fell on the roof of my house. It fell from the roots so all its weight is right now exactly on top of my bedroom's roof... auch. We could only cut some branches of it... well, my boyfriend did, I was mostly documenting, since I already had the camera in my hand :)

It was our neighbor's tree, I don't know why it chose our house to fall on!

Now I just have to think of a way to use these tons of free wood!
